What Payroll helps you do
  • Earnings calculated from hours, rates, and earning codes
  • Configured deductions and gross-to-net review
  • Payroll run approvals, revisions, and source-change review
  • CSV exports and payroll-to-finance reconciliation
What to evaluate

Choose the capability that fits the way you work.

  • Can payroll teams see what changed and why?
  • Can the process support different payroll calendars and groups?
  • Can exports be reconciled before submission?
  • Who owns tax filing, funding, and employee payment delivery?
Capabilities and service scope

A clear scope for your payroll workflow.

Review these PHCM capabilities using your pay rules, employee inputs, and a representative pay period. Production use requires implementation validation, parallel-payroll reconciliation, and release approval.

Earnings and deduction calculations

Calculate earnings from hours, rates, earning codes, and configured calculation rules. Apply configured deductions and review gross-to-net results. Statutory tax accuracy and jurisdiction coverage require separate validation.

Payroll-ready data and integration

Prepare reviewed workforce and pay-period data for CSV export. If an existing payroll processor remains in place, agree its import format, field mappings, approval cutoff, and correction process. Each destination and connection must be validated for your deployment.

Payroll reconciliation and accounting

Compare payroll revisions and source changes, then reconcile payroll results with exports and accounting totals. With Finance in scope, review earnings and deduction mappings, labor allocation, liabilities, and payroll-to-GL differences.

Tax filing and direct deposit: confirm the service separately.

Tax filing, tax remittance, and employee payment delivery require separately contracted, configured, and validated providers. They are not included as active services in the scope described on this page. A calculation, funding report, or exported file is not confirmation that a tax return was filed or employee funds were delivered.

Explore the workflow

Make each payroll run easier to review and explain.

Evaluate payroll software using a representative pay period: the employee inputs, calculation rules, approvals, changes, and accounting handoff that your team actually needs.

01

Review the inputs

Start with approved hours, earning codes, employee assignments, payroll groups, and period dates. Identify missing approvals and source changes before relying on a payroll result.

02

Calculate and approve

Review time-derived earnings, configured deductions, and the resulting pay totals. Compare changes between run revisions and confirm which people prepare, review, and approve the payroll run.

03

Reconcile and hand off

Compare payroll results with the CSV export and finance totals. Resolve unexplained differences, then confirm the receiving system accepted the agreed file. Keep tax filing and payment confirmation within the separately agreed provider workflow.

Designed to work together

Payroll is stronger in context.

Phi HCM keeps the broader workforce operating model in view, so your selected module can connect to the functions and teams around it.

Questions about Payroll

Understand the software and the scope.

Does PHCM calculate pay or only prepare time data?

PHCM has earnings and configured deduction calculation workflows as well as payroll-ready time data and export workflows. Review gross pay, configured deductions, and net-pay results in a demonstration. The configured calculation framework does not establish certified statutory tax calculation; production scope and validation must be confirmed for your pay rules and jurisdictions.

Can we keep our existing payroll processor?

A payroll integration can be scoped around reviewed time data and exports while your existing processor retains agreed responsibilities. First validate its accepted file format, employee identifiers, earning codes, totals, and correction process. An export capability does not imply a prebuilt or active connection to every payroll provider.

Does PHCM file payroll taxes?

Certified tax filing and remittance are not included as active services in the scope described here. They require a separately contracted and validated provider, agreed jurisdiction coverage, and confirmation of filing and remittance responsibilities before go-live.

Does PHCM send employee direct deposits?

Direct-deposit delivery is not included as an active service in the scope described here. Payment execution requires a separately configured and validated provider, funding arrangements, and confirmed settlement and reconciliation. Preparing payroll totals or a funding report does not transfer money.

What does payroll reconciliation involve?

Compare the source hours and earnings with the reviewed payroll run, exported records, and accounting totals. Investigate changed inputs, missing employees, deduction differences, or unmapped costs. When Finance is included, review payroll-to-GL, liability, and labor-distribution totals with the responsible finance team.

Can payroll reporting connect to finance and Business Intelligence?

Phi HCM includes payroll and finance reporting workflows. In a demo, trace a report to the payroll period and source results, review the relevant accounting mappings, and check the records each user is allowed to see.
